Present the times in French to the class using the powerpoint and you could also use a clock in the classroom in order to model the time if you have one. Drill practice using the perfect tense in French for those who find tense formation difficult. This stage will greatly focus on the use of auxiliary verbs, distinguishing whether to use 'avoir' or 'etre' as the auxiliary verb, verb past participles and also gender and number agreement. This stage also revises Stage 1: The present tense. Repetition is the key! There are two tests available for the perfect tense which are titled as 'Partie 2-9: Test au passe compose' and 'Partie 2-9a: Test au niveau superieur'. I would recommend taking these tests before commencing 'Partie 3: Le temps a l'imparfait'

Whether you are generally revising the perfect tense in the negative form or teaching it for the first time, here is an activity that will give students a firm acquaintance with this concept or greatly revise it. Welcome to the first installment of the advanced series for adults who are studying French, published by Palmer Language Services. At this level, students are beginning to adopt a more independent approach in their studies and tend to evade from the use of their mother-tongue language influence, thus the use of extracting material from texts. This resource extensively explores the unique life and story of Jeanne Louise Calment who lived to an incredible age of 122 years and 164 days and she was only verified human being to have lived to such an age. She also outlived both her daughter and grandson by several decades. The introduction of the subjunctive, using the verbs ‘avoir’ and ‘être’ are also incorporated in this activity, in addition to using them as auxiliary verbs when the perfect subjunctive is formed. Initially, before reading the text, students should be asked in French if they have any knowledge about Jeanne Calment and if so, what do they know about her. Students should then read the text out loud and then complete the subsequent activities which follow. This resource also incorporates all four key skills such as listening, reading, writing and speaking, in addition to an array of grammar activities. The good news is that you don’t have any particular need to make any preparatory planning, prior to teaching this topic as all the material contained is self-explanatory, which will enable the students to think for themselves. This resource looks at various Asian countries in French with their prepositions, such as ‘au’, ‘en’ and ‘aux’. There is a memory game of the prepositions and the names of the Asian countries in French. You can divide the class up into groups and they can score points for their team for every missing country that they remember. There is also a quiz about the countries and subsequently, the students then copy out the table and fill in the missing gaps.
